John Blalock is a life-long resident of Floyd County. After graduating from Pepperell High, he served six years in the U.S. Navy including deployments to the Middle East and the Mediterranean. While working as a Floyd County Police Officer for 18 years, he earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Shorter University, and an M.P.A. from Columbus State University. John is Floyd County’s 911 Director, Public Safety Liaison, and interim Animal Control Director.

John enjoys hiking the trails at Berry, cooking, and spending time with his two children, Zach, 18, and Mattie, 17. His favorite way to spend time is watching Zach and Mattie participate in activities they love, such as chorus, theater, and sports. He is a movie and music buff, especially if it involves the 80s. Do not befriend John on social media if you are easily annoyed by “proud of my kid” posts.
